Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide
Item upgrading is a key component to maximizing the power of your gear. It allows you to add additional stats to the base value of your item.
Each upgrade template comes with a set of options which can be changed through the GUI. These options include the upgrading reference and the upgrading chance.
Upgrade components
As part of the 2.0 update the system for upgrading the armor and weapons in Cyberpunk has been improved. Upgrade components are scattered across Night City. The item you want to upgrade must also have an upgrade slot. The game will display an overview of the item's expected stats after upgrading. It will also display the required component or material. If you don't have the necessary level of component or resource to upgrade an item the button will show "Blocked."
Weapons and armor can be upgraded along with a few trinkets and gathering tools. Upgrade slots can be filled on each item to give bonus effects or attributes when the equipment is utilized. These upgrades are available through crafting, bought from a vendor, obtained as rewards.
There are two types of upgrade components: universal upgrades and gems. Universal upgrades are comparable to gems and are able to be used in any type of equipment.
